Forecast for 23 March 2015 - 27 March 2015

Quake activity may increase. Magnitude 4+ risk areas are East Cape, Bay of Plenty, Volcanic Plateau, Fiordland. Global Mag 6+ risk areas are Eastern Solomon Islands, Sumatra, Java. Global volcanoes may become very active from 26 March. Shiveluch, Villarrrica. Possibility of global Mag 7+ quake from 26 March. Global confidence = low. Forecast map on Facebook link. This forecast was a big volcano success. Eruptions fitted the forecast profile perfectly. Quakes weren't such a sparkling success, nothing much worked. Local and global quake activity was at high frequency as expected but seldom at high magnitude. Many Mag3 + quakes in NZ. Volcanoes picked up on 23 March and were erupting strongly by 27 March. There may be more eruptions into the new quake forecast period beginning 29 March.
