Quake activity may build steadily through to the weekend. Higher risk days are later. Higher risk areas are Cook Strait, Awatere Valley, Blenheim, Wellington. Lesser activity at East Cape and Fiordland.
Summary.Strong movement late on August 6 produced quakes from south of the Macquarie Ridge, Fiordland, Karamea and into Vanuatu.Conditions then remained quieter than expected until 11 August when global activity spiked. The August 12 quake storm was widely felt across Aotearoa.
