Forecast for 15 August 2013 - 19 August 2013

Quake activity may build through the period with strong conditions expected on 18-19 August. High risk areas are Awater Valley, Cook Strait, Wellington and East Cape.
Summary. Very strong conditions on August 16 resulted in a 6.6 Magnitude shallow quake which was widely felt across New Zealand. Activity has quietened since with some aftershocks up to 5.1 A Kermadec quake storm on 19 August confirmed the strong forecasted conditions late in the period.
