Magnitude 4+ risk areas are East Cape, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taumarunui, West of Masterton, Cook Strait, South of Taramakau River, Hollyford/Arawhata River, Fiordland, South of Fiordland. Quakes may be infrequent. Volcanoes quiet. Summary. The 12 April West of Masterton 5.2 produced no more Mag 4 quakes. Quakes were huge in the Pacific, justifying a forecast for New Zealand but local quakes never came. The forecast wasn't extended even though Pacific was going off, a difficult choice.
