Magnitude 4+ risk areas are Culverden, Southwest of Kaikoura, Kaikoura, East of Kaikoura, Seaward Kaikouras, Tapuaenuku, Waita River, Cape Campbell, Northwest of Cape Campbell, Northern Cook Strait, Levin, Porangahau, South of Cape Kidnappers, Upper Crooked River, West Fiordland. Volcanoes quiet. Quakes are likely to be subdued until a strong Pacific quake spell arrives 8 December. Most (if any) quakes are likely in Cape Campbell/Kaikoura/Cheviot areas. Summary. Kekerengu 4.3 11.38am Lowering the Magnitude risk was justified today. Quakes were subdued, having become weaker every day for several days. Conditions are set to change.
