Magnitude 6 risk areas are Culverden, Seaward Kaikouras, Kaikoura, Lower Clarence, Ward, Cape Campbell, North of Cape Campbell, Porangahau, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, Cape Kidnappers.
Magnitude 5 risk areas are Lake Wairarapa, Eketahuna.
Magnitude 4 risk areas are Fiordland, Haupiri River, South Awatere Valley, Wairoa, East Cape, Opotiki, Urewera, Rotorua, Taupo.
North Wairarapa is higher risk.
This forecast replaces the earlier 21 January forecast.

Local quakes have been generally under Mag 4 during the wider forecast period beginning 20 January.
A building trend has been underway however, offshore North Island quakes plentiful.
Data still shows pressure building up in the North Island towards 23 January, noted in the 20 January Pacific forecast.
Quakes are likely to be infrequent with an isolated big quake possible.
