Magnitude 6 risk areas are Culverden, Kaikoura, Seaward Kaikouras, Lower Clarence, Ward, Cape Campbell, North of Cape Campbell, Porangahau, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, Cape Kidnappers.
Magnitude 4 risk areas are Fiordland, Haupiri River, Lake Wairarapa, Eketahuna, Castlepoint, East Cape, Opotiki, Rotorua, Urewera.
Quake conditions are easing.
Quakes are likely to be infrequent but an isolated big quake is possible.

North of East Cape 4.7 10.52am
The forecast period is extended to 25 January.
Quakes are fading away.
New Zealand is still a Pacific Mag 6 risk area so an isolated big quake is possible.
Solar conditions may briefly increase on 25 January before fading again ahead of a new quake period late 27 January.
Volcanoes quiet.

No forecast was offered for 26 January...no Mag 4 quakes were expected or recorded.
