Magnitude 4 risk areas are Breaksea Sound, Doubtful Sound, Lake Te Anau, Lower Arawhata River, Upper Hokitika River, Methven, Rolleston, Culverden, Cheviot, Kaikoura, Seaward Kaikouras, Ward, Seddon, Cape Campbell, Tapawera, Southwest of Wellington, Wellington, Eketahuna, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, Opotiki, East Cape, Northeast of East Cape.
Possible minor steam eruption White Island.
The forecast period is likely to be extended.

Good location success in Fiordland and Canterbury.
Canterbury Plains quakes were small, a little swarm in an increasingly quiet zone...the 4 September 2010 Darfield 7.1 is slowly moving on.
Solar quake driving conditions were steady today and seem likely to create more quakes on 22 May.

The forecast period is extended to 23 May.
South Taranaki is added to Mag 4 risk areas.
The Canterbury Plains mini swarm continued on 23 May.
The Ohau Point 4.6 must have been a major worry for the workers trying to get the road open.
Solar quake driving conditions are only moderate but very steady.
A slow buildup may be underway.
Quakes are likely to be infrequent on 23 May but an isolated Mag 4 quake is possible.
An eruption at White Island now seems very unlikely.
The period is likely to be extended.

Many South Island locations have been affected.
Quake action both north and south of New Zealand on 23 May could bring more quakes to New Zealand in the following days.
