Summary.
11 March.
D'Entrecasteaux Islands/Solomon Sea 6.1 1.48am
12 March.
New Britain 6.0 9.19am
This forecast was hastily assembled when the forecasters realised the previous forecast period had been closed too early and solar conditions were still high enough to drive quakes.
The Solomon Sea 6.1 came only two hours after the forecast was posted, justifying the forecast.
The eruption of Piton de la Fournaise has ended. The magma chamber under the volcano is empty, following a moderate fissure eruption lasting three weeks at least.
New solar conditions due 15 March may not be enough to fully recharge the deflated volcano.
Pacific and Indonesian volcanos are hot with many puff emissions.
Agung, Bromo, Merapi, Semeru, Mayon are hot and may puff more ash from 16 March.
Hawaiian volcanos Kilauea and Mauna Loa are also quaking, although minor at this stage.
