Quake activity may increase. Magnitude 4+ risk areas are Bay of Plenty, East Cape, Northern Wairarapa, Christchurch, Fiordland. Lunar modulation may centre this activity around low tide. Activity may begin on 14 July in Bay of Plenty, East Cape and in other areas on 16 July. Summary. 13 July. Fiordland 4.8. 14 July. South of Kermadecs 5.6(USGS), Kermadecs 5.6, Whakatane 4.2?, Taupo 4.3 Activity came on cue late on 13 July with moderate rumbles either end of NZ. Rotorua/Bay of Plenty recorded high Mag 3+ activity 14-19 July. Other areas remained quiet until early 17 July when it picked up strongly until beyond the forecast period. Tidal correlation only came late on 19 July despite strong lunar conditions. The cycle of more intense quakes spaced further apart is still increasing. Observers may or may not notice similar weather patterns.
