Quake activity may increase. Magnitude 5+ risk areas are Bay of Plenty, East Cape. Magnitude 4+ risk areas are Taranaki Bight, Northern Wairarapa, Christchurch, Fiordland. Activity may build steadily to a peak on 21 July. Kermadecs, Tonga, Vanuatu south of Tanna may go Magnitude 6+ . Steam activity mqy build on on White Island after 22 July. Summary. 20 July. South of Taranaki 4.1, south of Fiordland 4.2, Marlborough Sounds 4.3, Tonga 6.0, south of Tanna 4.8, 4.7, 4.8, 4.8; Kermadecs 5.5, 4.6. 22 July. Fiji 6.9, Taumarunui 4.1. 23 July. East Cape 4.5, Whakatane 3.5, Fiordland 4.5. 25 July. Waipukurau 4.0, Kermadecs 4.9. 26 July. South Taranaki Bight 4.4, Kermadecs 4.8. 27 July. Kermadecs 5.1. Quakes were strong on 20 July across NZ and the SW Pacific. Good location success in Fiji, Tanna. Early on 22 July the big deep Fiji 6.9 went off but luckily wasn't felt at the surface. Quakes in NZ were strong for the next day. A North Wairarapa Mag 3+ swarm on 25 July fell just under forecast conditions, another good result. Volcanoes quiet through and beyond the period. Watch out for a pick up in warm wet weather this week ... and quakes.
