Pacific Summary. 20 May 2020 - 24 May 2020

Pacific quakes were weak but with a worrying quake trend in California.
A significant inland Western USA Mag 6 quake period during March-April is now being followed by some coastal action.
The Gulf of California 6.1 is matched by offshore Northern California 5.5 and Vancouver Island 5.2.
Hopefully the quakes die out and don't migrate towards Central California where major cities straddle the dreaded San Andreas Fault.
Deep quakes are never a good look and the deep 21 April Mag 5.3 under volcano Ambrym may have some following action.
The Ambrym 5.3 was the biggest Pacific quake on 21 May and didn't quite meet the ambitious forecast location of nearby Ambae...Vanuatu forecasts don't usually specify individual islands.
The 20 May Etna eruption occurred just as the forecast was posted and has been ongoing since.
A global trend may be emerging for ongoing low level eruptions with the very low spaceweather in 2020.
Quakes were quiet 23-24 May.

A new eruption at Etna has begun with the spaceweather.
Eruptions at Kliuchevskoi and Sakurajima are ongoing.
This Service tends to forecast new eruptions and not report ongoing eruptions.
Ongoing eruptions tend to have larger explosions during spaceweather events.
A general period of low level volcanic activity over several weeks could be unfolding as quakes drop away.
Pacific quakes are likely to be very infrequent 21 May and risk locations unchanged.
Nicaragua is added to Mag 6 risk locations.
