No Pacific forecast was offered for the period but the corresponding Aotearoa forecast gives time parameters for any action.
Big auroras marked the arrival of aurora season when quakes typically increase in frequency and magnitude.
A big quake spell unfolded in the Pacific in response to the spectacular auroras.
Northern Chile was rocked by a major sequence of 5 big quakes along a 500km stretch of coast, not observed before at this Service.
Fortunately no damage or casualties.
Quakes came in Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Ocean basins at once, a rarity.
Several quakes came just under Mag 6, marking a powerful start to Solar Cycle 25.
Volcanos by contrast were quiet as the energy switched dramatically to quakes.
