Only one local Mag 4 quake since the forecast period ended.

Weak than expected spaceweather created a sluggish local quake response.
Magnitudes were under Mag 4 and typically late from the weak spaceweather.
Reasonable risk location success however from such mild conditions.
Vulcanologists have announced Ruapehu reached 39C on 4 September and has cooled since.
White Island gave a low level ash eruption on 2 September, acting as a signature for the following Ruapehu temperature peak 2 days later.
White Island is cooling now although SO2 gas is increasing, indicating magma may be rising.

Magnitude 5 risk locations are Doubtful Sound, Northwest Arm Te Anau, Offshore Milford Sound.
Magnitude 4 risk locations are Northwest of Snares Islands, Big Bay, Cascade River, Lower Arawhata River, Haast, Kahurangi, Karamea, Kaikoura, Cape Campbell, Southern Cook Strait, South Wairarapa, Dannevirke, Porangahau, Waipukurau, South of Taranaki, Tokoroa, Matawai, East of East Cape.
Low level ash emissions at White Island are likely to be ongoing.
Heating may occur at Ruapehu later in the period.
The period may build over several days as active sunspot AR2871 crosses the solar disc.
