In similar vein to the Pacific Summary, the forecasters weren't confident of the risk locations and so a detailed forecast wasn't offered.
The period went volcanic in the end as long period coronal hole windstream conditions set in and a brief Kp8 aurora on 1 June from the 31 May M8 solar flare.
Regardless some local quakes occurred and the period became quite busy in the end.
The biggest quake, the 4 June Charles Sound 5.1 came at the height of the period.
Fiordland is a no brainer risk location just now following the recent big South of Fiordland 6.8 and quakes further south at Macquarie Island. A forecast for this region should have been offered and was a forecast mistake.
The forecasters keep seeing more possible action between Macquarie Island and Fiordland in following periods.
29 May. East of Te Kaha 4.0 10.41pm
1 June. NW of Snares Islands 4.0 8.21pm
2 June. Northern Taranaki Bight 4.3 12.53am
